Fresh Air in Kyushu

Although I've been in Japan for years, I never had a chance to visit Kyushu until this recent trip. It was a nice escape from our robotic life in Tokyo. We flew into Nagasaki, then proceeded to Huis Ten Bosch theme park in Sasebo. From there we drove to Kikuchi onsen in Kumamoto and stayed overnight for a treat. The next day was a long drive from Kumamoto to Kuju in Oita, we passed thru Mt. Aso with a stunning view and reached Takachiho in Miyazaki. We covered a lot of grounds within three days, thanks Karens for her planning and arrangement! Driving around beautiful scenery, going to an onsen and having great local food are a treat in Kyushu, there is nothing else anyone should need!

Bonus: If you are brave enough, try basashi (raw horse sashimi), a delicate cuisine in Kyushu.

Nagasaki used to have a large Christian population and was once the center of Japanese Catholicism.
