Frequently Asked Questions — Tokyo Vacation Photographer

Question 1

Do you speak English?

Accepted Answer

Yes — I am fluent in English and conducts all photoshoots entirely in English. As someone who lived in New Zealand and has photographed clients from over 50 countries, communication is natural, relaxed, and easy. You will never feel lost or awkward during your session. I also speaks Japanese and Thai.

Question 2

How far in advance should I book a photoshoot in Tokyo?

Accepted Answer

I recommend booking at least 3–6 weeks in advance for regular sessions, and 2–4 months ahead for private boat cruise/ rental venue or during peak seasons such as cherry blossom season (late March to early April) and yearend. I limit the number of daily bookings to ensure personalised attention for every client, so early booking is strongly advised.

Question 3

Where do photoshoots take place in Tokyo?

Accepted Answer

KP Photography shoots across all of Tokyo's most iconic and atmospheric locations including Shibuya Crossing, Shinjuku Golden Gai, Asakusa, TeamLab Borderless & Planets, Shiba Park (Tokyo Tower), Hamarikyu Gardens, and many lesser-known hidden gems. I tailor every location to match your style, whether that's classic Tokyo landmarks, cyberpunk neon streets, traditional neighbourhoods, or nature escapes. Shoots can also be arranged outside Tokyo — including Kyoto, Okinawa, Hakone, and across Japan.

Question 4

What is included in a KP Photography photoshoot?

Accepted Answer

Every KP Photography session includes: pre-shoot consultation to plan locations and style, a fully guided photoshoot with an English-speaking photographer, professional photo editing, and delivery of high-resolution images via private online gallery. Surprise proposal sessions include discreet positioning so your partner never suspects, and same-day teaser photos are often delivered shortly after the shoot. I have never missed a booked photoshoot in over 10 years.

Question 5

How long does it take to receive my photos?

Accepted Answer

Edited photos are typically delivered within 24- 72 hours via a private online gallery. For surprise proposal shoots, teaser images are delivered on the day itself so you can relive the moment immediately. The full edited gallery follows within the standard turnaround window.

Question 6

Do you photograph surprise proposals in Tokyo?

Accepted Answer

Yes, surprise proposal photography is one of KP Photography's most popular specialities. I can arrange for the surprise to happen during the session without your partner knowing or I can act as a bypasser offering to take your couple photo. Early booking is essential as proposal slots fill quickly, especially on weekends and during peak travel seasons.

Question 7

Do you travel outside Tokyo for photoshoots?

Accepted Answer

Yes, I am available for photoshoots across Japan for longer sessions or via trusted local partners. Popular destinations include Kyoto, Hakone, Kawaguchiko/ Hakone (Mt Fuji), Okinawa, Hokkaido, Karuizawa, Shirakawa-go, Fukuoka, and Yufuin. Contact me to discuss your itinerary and we can take it from there.
